Bed RaceFort Wayne, Indiana's local Three Rivers Festival is home to some great events and contests.
One of the more competitive ones is the Bed Race. A team of 4 sprint down 2 city blocks and push a rider down the street on a custom made, light weight, themed, bed on wheels. I've built 2 beds. The first was made from wood and had a catastrophic failure 20 feet from the finish line. Causing us to loose the race by 1 foot. The second was all steel. It was stiff and light weight. We lost to the eventual champions. Years: 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 |

Raft RaceIn 2013, the Three Rivers Festival brought back the raft race! Growing up, I saw the race and immediately, it became a bucket list item for me.
With a very limited budget, I constructed it from re-purposed wood, barrels from Craig's List, and seats from old family boats. A huge block party on water. That's what it felt like when we were on the rivers with almost 50 other rafts. I supported one of my favorite non-profits, NeighborLink. Hopefully, we brought more awareness to their mission! |

Just kidding! It just requires a huge appetite! Things I've eaten at a high rate of speed:
